If you have visited the Green recently, you may have noticed that it is all dried up! This is due to the pond liner having worn out. The good news is that it will soon be refurbished. Last year, we applied successfully for funding from the Kenneth White Legacy Award and in January 2026 we will be helped by a team from Froglife. Thank you (again!) to The Good Gym

A dynamic team from The Good Gym arrived on the Green on Monday evening to help us out. It was amazing what they achieved in a focused 45 minutes or so – in particular,  clearing and cutting back planting near to the Railway Path entrance to the Green. There is still more to do in this area, but we’ve made a good start.

Programme below! Local resident Adrian Beckingham has exciting links with the Maasai in Kenya. During a recent visit, he learned that a troupe of Maasai warrior dancers had been invited to the UK to do a fund-raising tour for their local school. We are so fortunate that Adrian approached us with this news. We are delighted to welcome the troupe to perform on the Green. There will also be opportunities for question and answer. Do bring your do ations too….

Our Refurbished Noticeboard

Our Refurbished Noticeboard

A while back the notice board fell down – the legs had become rotten. Great news that thanks to the ingenuity and skill of Robert McIntosh from the Forest Hill Society, and two hardy helpers, Andrew Orford and Billy Harding, the old board was repaired over the weekend and reinstalled. We also decided to reposition it – in its previous location, although very visible, the board blocked visual access to the Green, which several of us felt was a shame….
